How can kidney problems cause hypertension.
My brother has hypertension and his doctor said that the main problem came from his kidneys. How is it that kidneys can cause a problem? I thought hypertension was about the cardiovascular system.

Your brother probably has a relatively rare condition called renovascular hypertension. When an artery to a kidney gets blocked or restricted, the kidney tries to increase blood flow by releasing a protein called 'renin'. When renin is released into the system, it results in increased blood pressure.
